PepperMill's roulette strategy series is joined by playable neighbours! This is one of players favourite strategies, so we will therefore study this game plan with more detail. But before diving into these strategies, make sure you understand the rules of roulette and the payout of each type of bet.
Playing roulette neighbours is one of the most popular tactics used by the top roulette players, whether it is classic roulette or online roulette. It involves playing a specific section of the roulette wheel, covering the table with as few chips as possible. In short, it is about an optimal distribution of numbers on the roulette wheel.
On the roulette wheel there are three sections formed by the distribution of the numbers:
Neighbours of the zero (or ‘Voisins’), where the area covers 17 consecutive numbers,
Orphans (or ‘Orphelins’), which cover an area of 8 numbers, 5 consecutive on the left side of the wheel and 3 on the right side,
The third (or ‘Tier’), which covers the part opposite the 0 and covers the area from 33 to 27.
This bet consists of playing 17 numbers, all neighbours of the zero, including the zero itself. This roulette neighbour’s tactic is done with 9 chips and is a combination of splits, a street and a corner. This bet is also known as ‘Voisins’ or ‘The big series’.
The orphan number (‘Orphelins’) bet in roulette is played on the numbers that are not included in the neighbouring sectors of the zero and Third, totalling 8 numbers, hence the term 'orphan number'. There are two versions of orphan betting:
Orphan with split bets: This involves playing the 8 numbers with 5 chips, as not all numbers can be covered with split bets, so you place a straight bet on 1. The number 17 is covered by two bets as it is adjacent to 14 and 20.
Orphans with straight up bets: This is done with 8 chips, placing a straight up bet each of the orphan numbers.
Another neighbouring roulette tactic is the Third of the Wheel (‘Tiers’), which consists of betting with 6 chips on the 12 numbers that form the third of the roulette wheel. The 6 chips are placed as a split bet.
You can also bet on a specific number and a variable number of its neighbours. A clear example of this roulette neighbour’s tactic is betting on 7 and one neighbour, you will then be betting on 29, 7 and 28. If, for example, you bet on the same 7 and two neighbours you would be betting on 18, 29, 7, 28 and 12. You can choose up to 9 neighbours of a specific number.
As an online casino, we encourage you to try these techniques first in demo before betting real money. Also keep in mind that roulette remains a game of chance so winning is purely based on luck. Strategies that will guarantee a profit, don’t exist since every game is using a Random Number Generator (RNG), which guarantees that the outcome is fully random.
