Throughout the entire season, Oostende dominated the competition and finished in a comfortable position in the ranking. During the PepperMill Casino BNXT League Play Offs, they were determined to defend their title, and indeed, they did so successfully.
During the final, Oostende took the best possible start and after the first quarter they were already leading 16-18. In the second quarter, they widened the gap and went into halftime with a 29-35 lead. Victory seemed in sight after the third quarter of 18-24 but the Giants built the tension in the last quarter with a score of 24-15. It was nerve wracking until the last second but four free throws eventually helped Oostende to secure the win.
It wasn't just Ostend and Antwerp that provided the spectacle this season. Hubo Limburg United and Spirou Basket Charleroi were also strong contenders for the title, and Donar Groningen and Heroes Den Bosch can also crown themselves among the better Dutch teams.
The PepperMill Casino BNXT League has proven to be an compelling and high-quality league this season, with top teams from both Belgium and the Netherlands.
